Student Charged With Sending Instagram Message Seeking Hitman to Kill a School Employee

A high school student has been charged with using Instagram to attempt to hire a hitman to kill a school staff member, authorities in Pasco County, Florida report.

Investigators report the accused sent a message on Instagram to a fellow student stating, "I need a guy who could kill someone" and suggesting he would pay $100,000 "for the victim's head." He was charged with attempt to solicit murder.

In September 2019, Pasco County increased security for schools following safety concerns. One involved a 12-year-old who was accused of emailing threats to kill six teachers. The arrest report reveals that student also threatened to shoot up Cypress Creek Middle School.
